The Politics of Ukraine with Irish journalist Bryan Macdonald who gives insight to the growing aggressive rhetoric of war by America and NATO against Russia over Ukraine.
These are troubling times. The American domestic agenda under a weak US president is failing and falling in the polls. Unfortunately, instead of addressing the American domestic policy issues like hunger and housing insecurity, no affordable healthcare and a crumbling infrastructure, the rhetoric is now all about war.
In my recent podcast, the Politics of Survival, I spoke with Irish journalist, Bryan MacDonald, about the geopolitical outlook as America and NATO push the narrative for a military conflict in Ukraine with Russia. I came away from the discussion with Bryan feeling better informed. Bryan is the kind of voice one would like to listen to about these matters because it is not a voice of fear or war mongering. His is a voice of rationality and calm not just because of the deep, melodic lilt of his words but the practical sense and objective analysis that is quite absent in western discourse when the subject is Russia. Bryan is based in Russia. He is the head of the RT online desk for Russia and FSU (Former Soviet Union). In his previous work, he wrote for the Irish Independent, and several other well-known outlets. Because his journalism annoys the Western empire, he has been the subject of disparagement as well. Bryan’s body of work has grown through the decade that provides solid reporting and sober discourse, leaving the dissenters to fade away.At some point, people must be tired of listening to same talking points jammed into our consciousness by the western governments and seek other counsel.
Here is another recent interview with Bryan regarding the recent Kazakhstan uprising on Orbiting Around the World with George Galloway.
There were several pivotal points made in our discussion and notably where an audience can listen to the perspective of Russia, not just western interpretations through the American and British intelligence lens. One important voice Bryan mentioned is Fyodor Lukyanov, who is the editor-in-chief of Russia in Global Affairs, chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, and research director of the Valdai International Discussion Club. Fyodor provides the most accurate views from the Kremlin and of the current situation between the US, NATO and Ukraine.

The current situation in Ukraine remains at a deadlock that is tense and dangerous. America and England have made it obvious that they are pursuing a course of aggression while Russia and Ukraine steadfastly maintain no invasion by Russia is imminent. This is a case where American officials need to take stock of their rhetoric and be careful what they wish for as they may bring about a nightmare scenario.
In the end, American and western audiences alike must start making objective and critical thinking choices about their media consumption. For myself, I would rather wake up and go to sleep to a voice of reason rather than the fear-based rhetoric coming from that mass media designed to shield us all from the truth about a possible war that no one will win.
